Corporate Lawyer
Job Summary
We are seeking a Corporate Lawyer with experience in the e-commerce / online business industry. The ideal candidate will provide legal support on a range of corporate matters, ensuring that our digital and e-commerce operations comply with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
Corporate Governance:
Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate governance requirements and maintaining legal documents for corporate entities.
Contract Drafting & Review:
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), partnership contracts, and licensing agreements.
Intellectual Property:
Oversee the company’s intellectual property (IP) matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and domain name registrations. Provide advice on IP enforcement and protection strategies.
Terms & Conditions/Policies:
Draft and update website terms and conditions, privacy policies, refund policies, and other online service agreements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor changes in local and EU laws and regulations affecting e-commerce, advising on necessary changes to the company’s operations.
Data Privacy:
Assist with data protection compliance, including advising on GDPR and other applicable data protection laws. Work closely with the Directors to handle any data breaches or compliance queries.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess legal risks related to the company’s digital platforms, including customer data protection, payment processing, and third-party vendor relationships.
Dispute Resolution:
Manage and resolve legal disputes related to contracts, IP, or consumer complaints.
Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams, including IT, marketing, product development, and customer service, to ensure legal compliance across digital channels.
Regulatory Filings:
Handle any regulatory filings related to business operations, including e-commerce regulations, advertising standards, and online advertising disclosures.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law from a recognised institution.
Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of legal experience, ideally with a focus on corporate law, e-commerce, or online business. Prior in-house legal experience is preferred. However, candidates with corporate law experience in I-gaming, online Casino will also be considered
Strong understanding of corporate law, e-commerce regulations, online sales compliance, and consumer protection laws.
Experience in IP law and online brand protection.
Exposure to cross-border legal issues within the e-commerce industry would be advantageous
Familiarity with fintech or payment systems regulations related to online transactions.
Contract Expertise: Proven experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts.
E-commerce Experience: Familiarity with digital business models, online sales platforms, and associated legal challenges (e.g., cross-border sales, digital content, and subscription models).
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters in a business-friendly way.
Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to legal issues.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, especially in reviewing contracts and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
